On The Watch “It’s All About Erislandy Lara vs Jarrett Hurd”

Junior Middleweight Title Unification

Last night on Showtime at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vagas, I saw Erislandy Lara (25-3-2, 14 Kos) the longest reigning 154 pounder take an “L” to the heavy-handed “Swift” Jarrett Hurd (22-0, 15 Kos).

It was a very competitive bout from start to finish. Lara came out the gate with somewhat of a different approach from his usual self. You could see it in his eyes that he wanted to prove a point last night. My man stayed in the pocket “phone booth style” more than usual and bang it out with the heavy fisted Hurd.

Hurd was like a stocker in that squared circle last night. His game plan was straight and simple, seek and destroy by any means necessary. He took in some heavy shots from Lara but his pure size and brute strength was just too much for Lara to shake off. Hurd stayed on Lara’s neck throughout every round with none stop pressure until he finally achieved the “game changer” and managed to drop Lara in the 12th and final round. Real Talk until that knock down I had this fight as a draw but that left hook from Hurd sealed the deal.

Two Judges scored it 114-113 for Hurd and one Judge 114-113 for Lara. It was a hell of an impressive bout with non-stop action all the way through. Lara came to fight and showed up with the heart of a true Champion but this young Lion in Hurd just edged him out to steal that win under him.

There is a new “Top Dog” in the Junior Middleweight Division and he goes by the name of “Swiff “Jarrett Hurd. With this win he now becomes Unified Champion with the WBA, IBO and IBF under his possession. This Kid is a serious problem to all competitors in the Division.

His next quest is to be Undisputed Champion but to do that you gotta go through Jemell Charlo the WBC Junior Middleweight Champion and that ain’t no walk in the park. Real Talk!

Until then Champ enjoy your latest accomplishments cause you deserve every moment of it.

Congratulations Champ.

On The Watch “It’s All About Caleb Truax vs James DeGale”

IBF Super Middleweight Championship

Last night James DeGale (24-2-1, 14 Kos) redeemed himself at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. DeGale regained his IBF Super Middleweight Title that he lost last December to Caleb Truax (29-4-2, 18 Kos) by winning a 12 round unanimous decision.

Sh*t wasn’t pretty but his performance was much improved from his previous outing. Caleb pretty much stuck to the same game plan as the last time, aggressive pressure at all time but the difference this time is that DeGale defended in the pocket much better with better movement.

This was a do or die bout for DeGale. Win or retire. He had no other option but to come out on top on this night. He again took some heavy shots but this time he didn’t fold he kept his work rate up just enough to seal the deal.

With this win and IBF Title back in his possession, DeGale is back “On Top” but to hold on to his belt my Dude is gonna have to step his game up and sharpen up his skills on his next Title defense cause them Dudes next in line in the Division are real hungry to snatch that belt from his hands. Real Talk!

Until then congratulations on your win Champ, now stay working.

On The Watch “It’s All About Anthony Joshua vs Joseph Parker”

Heavyweight Title Unification

Tonight, at the sold-out Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales, Anthony Joshua (21-0, 20 Kos) unanimously decision Joseph Parker (24-1, 18 Kos) in their 12-round bout to become Super WBA, IBF, IBO and WBO Unified Heavyweight Champion of the world!!!

All three Judges had AJ winning by a large Margin. Hands Down! Truth be told this was not the most exiting AJ performance to date but my Boy showed character and patience tonight inside that squared circle and kept with the game plan at hand. AJ was the predator all night and Parker the pray with no real answer to AJ’s advancement towards him. I was seriously expecting Parker to be more aggressive and quicker of his feet but tonight his performance was very lackluster compared to what he usually brings to the squared circle. Styles make fights but that only works if both fighters are fully engaged and tonight that was not the case.

Tonight, AJ’s knockout streak may have ended but the job at hand was still delivered, he secured the win and collected Parker’s WBO Belt to become Unified Champion.

It’s clear that as the competition improves for AJ so does the challenge. Every time out is an opportunity to show improvement and tonight going the full 12-rounds unmarked by his opponent for the first time is a good way to gage where your are at this point in your career. Real Talk!

Congratulations on your win tonight AJ, you are one step closer to becoming Undisputed. Keep working and perfecting your craft but keep in mind there can only be one true “King” in the Heavyweight Division so be cautious of Deontay Wilder the man holding the last peace to the puzzle, the WBC Belt, cause he’s a BADDDD Man inside that squared circle.

On The Watch “It’s All About Jeff Horn vs Terence Crawford”

WBO Welterweight Championship

Undisputed Junior Welterweight Honcho Terence “Bud” Crawford (32-0, 23Kos) has moved up to the Welterweight Division with one thing in mind and that’s to conquer the 147-pound Division and become a Champion once again.

First on the to do list is WBO Welterweight Titleholder Jeff Horn (18-0-1, 12Kos).
Jeff took the world by storm when he defeated 8 Division World Champion Manny Pacquiao for the WBO Belt. On that night Jeff showed the world that he’s got heart, determination and can definitely scrap with the best of them. Real Talk!

That being said, on Saturday, June 9, 2018, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vagas, Terence Crawford will be putting up his skills against Jeff Horn’s and attempting to snatch that WBO Belt from him.

We all know that styles make fights but on that night, I will be most intrigued to see just how Crawford’s game plan will do vs Horn’s roughhouse tactics. On one side, we have Crawford, a cerebral assassin, with many different tools to slay his opponent inside that squared circle. On the opposite side, we have Horn a naturally bigger, stronger, aggressive blue-collar type fighter with an exceptional chip on his shoulder.

The Boxing Community has Horn as a huge underdog in this bout, which in return as fueled him even more to prove the doubters wrong. The trash talking has been real heavy from both sides as of late. The heat is on and both are ready to outdo each other come fight night.

A lot of suspect questions will be answered on that night. Will Crawford become a 3 Division Champion and put the 147-pound Division on notice or will Horn show the world that he’s the real deal and finally earn his peers’ respect as a true Champion?
