Junior Welterweight Showdown

Last night’s Ring Magazine/DAZN Co-Main Event was an introduction to the Junior Welterweight Division for former WBO Lightweight Champion Keyshawn Davis (14-0, 10 Kos) who challenged Jamaine Ortiz (23-3-1, 10 Kos) and passed the test with flying colors.

Jamaine, a formidable opponent, came in this bout very confident and was ready to dish out a beating on Keyshawn but might have underestimated him as the rounds progressed. Keyshawn stood his ground and fought fire with fire showing absolutely no fear inside that squared circle.

Jamaine thought he could bully the smaller opponent who was coming up in weight but soon found out that Keyshawn was built different and possessed some power with a pin point accuracy that seriously troubled him round by round.

As the rounds progressed it was clear that Keyshawn was breaking Jamaine down as his movements began to slow down whenever Keyshawn pressed the action. Keyshawn’s punches from head to body were taking a toll on Jamaine who tried desperately to stay on survivor mode but he eventually got dropped with a mean body shot to a standing 8 count in the eleventh round but he made it out.

By the twelve round the inevitable was written. Keyshawn continued his assault from head to body and eventually landed the right body shot that shut the show down indefinitely in the last 20 seconds of the round prompting the referee to halt the bout.

With this impressive win, Keyshawn has officially announced himself to the Junior Welterweight Division but he may be looking to bring his talent to the Welterweight Division towards the Champions for his next conquest.

Undisputed Junior Welterweight Showdown

The highly anticipated trilogy showdown finally came to a conclusion last night to a packed house at Madison Square Garden in New York City, where Undisputed Junior Welterweight IBF/WBA/WBC/WBO/Ring magazine Champion Katie Taylor (24-1, 6 Kos) separated herself yet again by defeating highly decorated Champion Amanda Serrano (47-4-1, 30 Kos) for the third time.

This trilogy fight headlined an all-woman’s card that gave the night an aura of success and achievement for all the competitors but truth be told the Main Event did not live up to the expectation us fans anticipated.

Maybe we were spoiled by the two previous encounters that these two warriors graced us with by the “HEAT” and all-out action-packed fight of the year type brawl that we witnessed in the 20 rounds these two combatants had shared. Both bouts were memorable and had us fans wanting to see them go at it one more time. That being said, last night’s showdown between these two combatants fell miserably short from their previous encounters. Taylor’s “game plan” was clear from the jump: to not get caught going toe-to-toe with Serrano and play keep away as much as possible while Serrano over did it by reducing her usual aggressive punch output by being overly cautious neutralizing her own biggest strength and asset. It was the wrong “game plan” for this night and it cost Serrano dearly.

Out of the three times these two Champions shared the inside of that squared circle, this was by far their worst combined showing. What was meant to be a war turned out to be a disappointing sparring session by two highly decorated combatants who are known to bringing the action to life but on this night neither combatant was looking to rumble.

The low punch output from both combatants made it harder to call the rounds but after 10 rounds of dull action one Judge scored it even at 95-95 while the other two Judges had it 97-93 in favor of Katie Taylor.        

With this win on this historical night of boxing, Katie Taylor retained her Undisputed Junior Welterweight IBF/WBA/WBC/WBO/Ring magazine Championship Titles, while Amanda Serrano remains Unified Featherweight Champion of the World but still down 0-3 vs Katie Taylor.

Undisputed Junior Welterweight Showdown

The rematch between Undisputed Junior Welterweight IBF/IBO/WBA/WBC/WBO/Ring Magazine Champion Katie Taylor (24-1, 6 Kos) and highly decorated Champion Amanda Serrano (47-3-1, 30 Kos) has officially been announced and they are going to go at it in a highly anticipated and well received trilogy showdown on an all-women’s card live on Netflix Friday July 11, 2025, at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Judging by their first press conference, these two well-decorated warriors are definitely going to bring that “HEAT” when they step foot inside that squared circle. They’ll start right where they left off from their two highly-contested but controversial showdowns that keep us wanting more every time.

Throughout all the trash talking and the back and forth these two warriors were throwing at each other one thing was made certain by Katie, she is 2-0 over Amanda and will be looking to maintain that lead come fight night by making it 3-0.

That being said, Amanda is extremely determined to right the wrong this time around and prove to the naysayers that she is capable of dethroning Katie off her Queen’s chair and become once and for all the Undisputed Junior Welterweight Champion. Those are her intensions but truth be told, Katie Taylor is no walk in the park type of an opponent. Katie is highly skilled in every department and equipped with the will of a Lioness who refuses to back down.

Regardless of their previous outings this trilogy is once again must-see TV. Another moment in time to be added to the History Books!
