Heavyweight Showdown
In tonight’s Matchroom/DAZN Main Event at the Jeddah Superdome in Saudi Arabia we witnessed Former Unified Heavyweight Champion Anthony Joshua (30-4, 27 Kos) grace the squared circle for the first time since surviving the December 2025, car crash in Nigeria that claimed the lives of his best friends Sina Ghami and Latif Ayodele in a comeback fight with little known but undefeated heavy fisted Kristian Prenga (20-2, 20 Kos).
Many anticipated this bout to be business as usual for AJ but what transpired in that first round rocked the whole boxing industry when to everyone’s surprise, AJ got caught with a slick upper cut that dropped him in the first 30 seconds of the bout to a standing 8 count. Unbelievable!
AJ, still looking shaky rose up and proceeded to throw hands with Prenga but was met with another heavy punch that dropped him once again to a standing 8 count but ultimately survived a dreadful first round.
A recovered AJ entered the second round on the front foot and proceeded to put some power into his punches that had Prenga retreating as AJ’s confidence was building up by the way he was hammering his combinations clearly troubling Prenga to the corner where he was able to land two heavy fisted punches to the dome of Prenga that had him stretched out hurt outside the ropes prompting the referee to call the bout.
Truth be told, that first round had me and the fans in attendance on edge but AJ’s resilience and power came through tonight and bailed the former Champion out when he most needed it. Real Talk!
Anthony eventually delivered on the knockout the fans anticipated but not without a little drama clearing the way to the highly anticipated domestic matchup awaiting with the “Gypsy King” Tyson Furry (36-2-1 25 Kos).
