On The Watch “It’s All About Just Jay From THE HYPE MAGAZINE Interview With Dj Blaze

THE HYPE MAGAZINE Interviews CANADA’S DJ BLAZE

What is the significance of your name and how did you get that name?
I got my name back in the day when I was playing Ball on them courts in my college days. They use to say that I was BLAZIN IT UP whenever I step on the court so that name just stuck with me cause I do the same when I’m on them “12′s”

Describe your style?

My style might be different from the norm considering I don’t like to scream and shout on the mic…I like to let my music do the talking for me. I’m pretty versatile on them “12′s” and I can “bob and weave” with the best of them when it comes to the music game. I try not to stay in a box and keep things moving depending on the vibe or the city I’m in.

What was the first record you start scratching and mixing on the turntables?
First off I’m not a trick DJ, that’s not my thing but REAL TALK! my first record I started scratching with was Audio Two’s Top Billin…that beat on that track was just ridiculous…

Describe the hip-hop scene in your city?
The Hip-Hop scene in my city is poppin…there’s definitely a liking to the underground judging by the various acts that have come through the city to date.

What other artists have you had the opportunity to work with?
I’ve had the opportunity to spin along side a few Heavy Hitters of the likes of Big Kap, DJ Ace (New York), DJ G.I (Sproty Thievz) Max Glazer and NYC’s DJ Mell Starr just to name a few.

Who and what are your influences?
My brother DJ Rudeboy, Kid Capri, Jay-Z the culture, the love of music and the whole scene of it all are some of the influences that helped shape me into the DJ I am today and of course “I Likes to Move the Crowd”.

What should people expect from your upcoming projects?
Expect the unexpected from me cause when the vibe s just right my creativity just takes its course and my best work is usually is the end result.

What artists are you listening to right now?
My Man Jay-Z, Rick Ross, French Montana, Ace Hood…. just to name a few right now….

Who would you like to work with in the future?
I would like to work with DJ Kid Capri.

What would be the steps you would take as a DJ to Break a artists?

Depending on the style or genre of music I would mix it in with what’s popping right now in some of my Blazinone.com mixes…drop it at the clubs during that Hype point of the night…. plug it in on the suggested tracks section on Blazinone.com. Do a write up about the up and coming artist on my what’s Hot section and depending on the artist get a face to face interview or phone interview, and keep it moving from there…

Are you currently with a radio station or DJ Club?
I did do the college radio thing way back, but now its all about the platform that my partner and I created to present myself and my work to the world on www.blazinone.com. There you can find some of my HEAT BANGER sets, TAKEOVER set and NIGHT CLUB OF THE FUTURE sets throughout the months. I also have a “Suggested Track” section for new or popping artists that I like. A “What’s Hot” section where I like to post some of the things I like, and I also do write ups about artists that inspire me. I also have the “Video” section of some of my favorite videos to date. I still do clubs all over whenever the business is “right” that is….

Is there anything you would like our readers to know?
I am CANADA’S DJ BLAZE! If you haven’t heard of me yet then you need to keep your ears and eyes open cause MY TIME IS COMING!!! Blazinone.com #DONTBASLEEPER TUNE IN
Last but not least, HYPE wants to know…What’s your CRAZIEST “Where they do that at?!”
REAL TALK! I don’t think I’ve experience that moment yet but whenever that call from Europe comes in for the right booking, then that will definitely be my CRAZIEST moment to date…

On The Watch “It’s All About The Game”

Hate him or love Him, your Boy Game is definitely a major player in the West Coast scene right now keeping it popping. For someone who came into the game under Dr. Dre’s guidance, as his most Prominent Protégé, Game has undeniably lived up to the hype surrounding him.

From dropping his first Certified Platinum LP “The Documentary” in 2005 to shortly after being dropped from G-Unit, one can’t help but see the growth Game had displayed throughout those difficult times in his career. Peeps in the industry had pretty much written him off, only to see the city of Compton stand behind him and back him up all the way to the top of the charts without the help of Dr. Dre or 50 Cent.

By doing so Game proved to himself and his peers that when focus your Boy is a BEAST on wax. Game got bars and can unquestionably hold his own with the best of them whether on a Hip Hop track or as a guess feature on an R&B track. Game is not one to spit some weak shit. With 4 studio albums complete with hits and a set of hidden gems on each and every one of them; Game’s 5th LP “Jesus Piece” is destine to hit the top of the charts and showcase just how much of a REAL MC he really is on the Mic.

REAL TALK! Peep my DJ Blaze/Game set on my mixtapes section and see how the WEST keeps it Blazin.

On The Watch “DJ Blaze Talk’s Record Sales”

REAL TALK! LP sales are down all over, but the Hip Hop and R&B GENRE has been hit particularly the HARDEST and the trend seems to be continuing year after year. The crazy thing about all of this is that the GENRE itself is as popular today then ever before. The need and the want are as LIVE as ever. However it use to be that going Platinum was an upper accomplishment but now new and seasoned artists don’t seem to be too concern nowadays on the overall sales of their Albums. REAL TALK!

I know for a fact that we still got some movers and shakers still doing good numbers in the GAME but REAL TALK, LP units are definitely not moving weight like back in the days, the overall numbers are simply lower then before. The GAME is changing right in front of our very own eyes. Record Labels are shocked right now, the digital era has been on the come up for quite some time now, changing the landscape of the way music is being heard and presented to the masses.

New technology is playing a serious role in this Day and Age and Labels all over are of feeling the HEAT of the lack luster sales. REAL TALK! Artists are giving out more and more free music and mixtapes to help boost their stock in the Game one way or another.

A few hot singles today seems to have more power then a full length LP REAL TALK! The definition of SUCCESS in the music industry has changed dramatically. We use to look forward to a tight LP from top to bottom but now instead we have the next HOT SINGLE the “Flavor of the month” that is, to look forward too.

Blaze

On The Watch “It’s All About Meek Mill”

After the release of 2 well-received mixtapes (with the likes of an LP) Dreamchasers 1 and 2, your Boy Meek Mill just scored his Boss Rick Ross another hit LP to add to the ever-growing Maybach Music Group. With The release of his highly anticipated LP Dreams & Nightmares, Meek Mill made sure that all the hype and accolades surrounding him was not a fluke.

Meek is the truth and judging from the quality of music he blessed us with from his mix tapes to his LP, it was only right for Meek to stay consistent and deliver a body of work on Dreams & Nightmares that will have all his peers and fans tripping of every track from the beginning to the end. Meek put in some serious work to get to where he’s at right now and as MMG’s golden child, he’s not about to drop the ball on this one anytime soon.

So for all you HATTERS looking for a fail from this Kat, look somewhere else cause your Boy Meek Mill dropped a serious LP in Dreams & Nightmares. Peeps and his peers need to keep an eye on this Kat cause his hunger and drive for success alone will definitely get him to the top of the food chain in this here Rap Game in no time REAL TALK! Peeps need to Cop the Dreams & Nightmares LP ASAP cause it’s a sure shot BANGGER, until then check out my DJ Blaze/Meek Mill set on my mixtapes section and peep what the streets been talking about.

On The Watch ” It’s All About Busta Rhymes”

I’ve said it before and I will say it again Busta is a rare breed of an MC, the kind of veteran MC that the Hip Hop world should take notice of and appreciate for all the bars and gems he crafted throughout such a hard working and ever changing career.

Busta Rhymes is recognized has a top notch MC who’s not to be f**k with. Whether you hear him on a straight Hard Core Hip Hop track or a crazy RnB club banger; your Boy Bussa Buss always delivers. With his new partnership with Google and with the release of his new and FREE LP Year of The Dragon being release exclusively through the Google search engine, Busta Rhymes has once again figured out a way to reestablish himself and his Conglomerate crew as a force to be taken seriously in this New Age Hip Hop Game.

With the help of YMCMB and Google, Busta Rhymes plans on taking the release of The Year of The Dragon has a gateway into enticing new and old consumers to come and ride with Bussa Buss on this new journey of his…

Blaze

On The Watch “It’s All About FEMCEE’s”

It’s that “TIME” again for the “FEMCEE’S” to show face and bring it back one time full circle. I can feel it in the air right now REAL TALK! Its what the game’s been missing. This is the year of the comebacks; I’m talking about them female game spitters and trend setters like Lauryn Hill, Missy Elliott, EVE, Brat, Foxy Brown, Lil Kim, Rah Digga, Sharrefa, Lady Luck, Jean Grae, Trina, Shawnna, even radio personnel Angie Martinez got bars for days. (And that’s just to name a few) Presently speaking the new bread of “FEMCEE’S” head runner for the last couple of years and still going strong; is none other then Platinum selling artist Miss Nicki Minaj, she’s definitely the new generations leader HANDS DOWN!

But let’s not get it twisted them new girls of the likes of Brianna, Dimond, Patwa, Honey Cocaine, Teyana Taylor, Lola Monroe and Iggy Azalea are not to be taken lightly, cause these girls stay on their grind and keep the internet hustle game buzzing all year round. Its “TIME” for the female vets in the game and the new crop of “FEMCEE’S” to really show the Hip Hop world what impact and competitiveness these girls can bring to a male dominated industry. REAL TALK!

Peep my DJ Blaze Ladies Night set (Pass and Present) on my mixtape section and see where I’m coming from with it.

Blaze

On The Watch “It’s All About 2PAC”

2Pac was a revolutionary, a poet, a soldier, a legend in this here rap game, and arguably one of the biggest rap stars in the world. Pac’s presence and his “I don’t give a f**k attitude” was felt like no other and demanded that attention. With over 75 million albums sold worldwide and still counting,

Pac proved that one hip-hop artist could impact the lives of a generation to come. REAL TALK! Pac’s non-stop work ethic and his lyrics were second to none. Love him or hate him the man knew how to craft a hit record full of emotions and intensity.

Although Pac may not be with us in the physical form, he did bless us with enough timeless music that will be around forever. Peep my DJ Blaze/2Pac set on my mixtapes section and sit back and vibe.
