On The Watch “It’s All About Andy Ruiz Jr. vs Damian Knyba”

Last night’s Matchroom/TNT/DAZN Main Event between former Unified Heavyweight Champion of the World, Andy “Destroyer” Ruiz Jr. (35-3-1, 22 Kos) and Damian “Polish Hussar” Knyba (18-1, 11 Kos) turned out to be an interesting bout with an unexpected outcome when all was said and done at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.

With Andy coming in this bout looking in his best physical shape, many anticipated the old Andy to show up and handle “The Polish Hussar” with ease but with Andy not having graced the inside of that squared circle after a two-year layoff, what we witnessed was a shadow of himself who had to deal with a 6ft 7 jabbing machine who definitely had the right “game plan”.

Damian’s reach, movement and active jab did a number on Andy’s face and had him confused and discouraged as the rounds progressed. I was impressed by Damian’s strategy who used every bit of his physical attributes to deter Andy from landing anything significant enough to trouble him in this bout.

 This may not have been the most exciting bout to watch but Damian did manage to raise the atmosphere and the crowd in the building when he viscously dropped Andy with a 10-piece combination in the seventh round. With the referee giving Andy a standing 8 count and added time, Andy managed to survive the round.

Andy, still shook off the seventh round, attempted to up his offensive approach with some urgency in the later rounds but Damian played his position to a “T” and kept that sniper like jab in his face while still landing the cleaner punches.

After 12 rounds of one-sided action, the Judges at hand scored it 117-110, 114-113 and 114-113, unanimously for Damian Knyba.

Them two Judges who scored this bout 114-113 are straight out of pocket for this one. Real Talk! Damian may have been the underdog on the night but he undeniably earned this win hands down.

On The Watch “It’s All About Anthony Joshua vs Kristian Prenga”

In tonight’s Matchroom/DAZN Main Event at the Jeddah Superdome in Saudi Arabia we witnessed Former Unified Heavyweight Champion Anthony Joshua (30-4, 27 Kos) grace the squared circle in a comeback fight with little known but undefeated heavy fisted Kristian Prenga (20-2, 20 Kos). This is the first time seeing Anthony since surviving the December 2025, car crash in Nigeria that claimed the lives of his best friends Sina Ghami and Latif Ayodele.

Many anticipated this bout to be business as usual for AJ but what transpired in that first round rocked the whole boxing industry when to everyone’s surprise, AJ got caught with a slick upper cut that dropped him in the first 30 seconds of the bout to a standing 8 count. Unbelievable!

AJ, still looking shaky, rose up and proceeded to throw hands with Prenga but was met with another heavy punch that dropped him once again to a standing 8 count but he ultimately survived a dreadful first round. 

A recovered AJ entered the second round on the front foot and proceeded to put some power into his punches that had Prenga retreating as AJ’s confidence was building up by the way he was hammering his combinations, clearly troubling Prenga to the corner where he was able to land two heavy fisted punches to the dome of Prenga that had him stretched out hurt outside the ropes prompting the referee to call the bout.

Truth be told, that first round had me and the fans in attendance on edge but AJ’s resilience and power came through tonight and bailed the former Champion out when he most needed it. Real Talk!

Anthony eventually delivered on the knockout the fans anticipated but not without a little drama clearing the way to the highly anticipated domestic matchup awaiting with the “Gypsy King” Tyson Fury (36-2-1 25 Kos).

The intrigue is at an all-time high judging by both combatants latest outing. Who do you have winning this next bout when it will be officially announced?

On the Watch “It’s All About Andy Ruiz Jr. vs Luis Ortiz”

WBC Heavyweight Title Eliminator

Last night’s PBC/Fox PPV Main Event between former Unified Heavyweight Champion Andy Ruiz Jr. (35-2, 22 Kos) and Luis Ortiz (33-3 28 Kos) at the Crypto.com Arena, Los Angeles, California, was an interesting bout that saw “King Kong” be at the receiving end of three knockdowns during the 12-round contest. Unbelievable.

I’m not sure if Ortiz underestimated Ruiz inside that squared circle but after seeing the canvas twice in round two, Ortiz awoke and realized quickly that Andy was coming for him by all means necessary. It took Ortiz some time but he eventually gathered himself and adjusted his “game plan” by working his jab while boxing and moving around making Andy rethink his approach.

That said this version of Andy last night was patient, less active with his hands but more calculative with his approach making sure when he pressed the action, his presence was felt with every punch landed. Ruiz’s hand speed and counter punching was the key to his success.

Both combatants fought with caution and at a slower pace than expected at times but both still had signs of success whenever they did connect blows back and forth. That being said, Andy’s counter punching speed and power was quite evident when he once again dropped Ortiz in round seven for a quick 8 count, but Ortiz bounced backed up and completed the tough round.

Ortiz regrouped and managed to build up some momentum throughout the later rounds with an effective jab keeping Ruiz at bay but he lacked that extra bounce in the back of his jab to put Ruiz down whenever the opportunity presented itself.

After 12 full rounds of action the Judges scored it 115-110, 114-111, 113-112 unanimously in favor of Andy Ruiz Jr.

Although Ruiz managed to drop Ortiz multiple times throughout the bout, this was by far one of his toughest battles to date. With this WBC Heavyweight Title Eliminator win under his belt Andy creeps closer to an official WBC World Championship opportunity down the road.
