On The Watch “It’s All About Bakhram Murtazaliev vs Tim Tszyu”

IBF Junior Middleweight Showdown

Last night’s PBC/Amazon Prime Video Main Event between IBF Junior Middleweight Champion Bakhram Murtazaliev (23-0, 17 Kos) and challenger, former WBO Champion Tim Tszyu (24-2, 17 Kos) brought the house to its feet with a surprising outcome that unraveled at the Caribe Royale Resort in Orlando, Florida.

The 154-Pound Division received another shake up last night by the way Murtazaliev completely outclassed and demolished the favorite and highly ranked Tszyu within 3 rounds. Quite a few people in the boxing community considered Murtazaliev the weakest link within the Champions but on this night, he put the 154-Pound Division on notice by stopping Tszyu dead on his feet.

To simply put it, Murtazaliev was too strong and accurate to content with. Murtazaliev put them paws on Tszyu early and dropped him with a deadly combination in the second round that to me Tszyu never really recovered from after the standing 8 count. Tszyu proceeded to stand his ground but eventually got clipped again for the second time and got back up to another standing 8 count. He looked shaky on them legs and eventually was dropped again for the third time nearing the end of the second round.

Entering the third round Tszyu looked lost, confused but still game to go toe-to-toe which led to a further inevitable devastating knockdown by a counter left hook that sat him down for the fourth time on the night to another standing 8 count that saw Tszyu rise up to his feet only to get pummelled by an onslaught of unanswered punches prompting Tszyu’s corner to throw in the towel to formally stop the fight.

This was a statement bout that literally shook the 154-Pound Division. The battle for the No. 1 Spot in the Division is looking more and more intriguing where Bakhram Murtazaliev who retained his IBF Junior Middleweight Title has officially entered his name into the conversation. Real Talk!

Congratulations Champ on a very convincing win.

On The Watch “It’s All About Adrien Broner vs Blair Cobbs”

Welterweight Showdown

Last night’s Don King promoted Main Event between former Four-Time Division World Champion Adrien Broner (35-5-1, 24 Kos) and Blair Cobbs (17-1-1, 10 Kos) at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida, was another clear illustration of how bad things have gotten for AB inside that squared circle. Real Talk!

The once upon a time “Can Man” failed again to pull the trigger when he was hesitant to let his gloves go against Cobbs who had his “game plan” on point letting his own gloves do the talking all night. Blair was very active throwing punches in bunches from all angles and even clipping AB early with a swift left hand that knocked him down for a standing 8 count in the second round.

Although AB recovered quickly from the knockdown, he showed no life or urgency into getting his get back or any attempt of a man on mission inside that squared circle.

Cobbs wasn’t able to stop AB but he did keep his foot on the gas by being active with his gloves round by round. While AB looked like a shell of himself inside that squared circle his power was still quite alive whenever he managed to connect anything significant enough and having some effect on Cobbs just not enough to deter him.

As usual, Broner talked a good game to the lead up of the bout but neglected to follow through with the tough talk inside that squared circle. What Broner was known for in the past seemed to have disappeared, his cat like speed and reflexes were a no show and he paid the price by being tagged all night by Blair who looked focused, sharp and hungry at getting the job done by any means necessary.

After 10 completed rounds the Judges at hand scored it 97-91, 96-93, 96-93 unanimously for Blair Cobbs.

This was a solid win for Cobbs but if he has any plans on challenging the upper echelon of the Welterweight Division he needs to get back in the lab and continue to perfect his craft cause them Dudes up there don’t play with their food.

On The Watch “It’s All About Roy Jones Jr. vs Scott Sigmon”

Cruiserweight WBU Championship

Last night at the Bay Center in Pensacola, Florida, former four Division World Champion Roy Jones Jr. finished his career in style with a win and strapped up like the champ that he is. New Cruiserweight WBU Champion.

Jones (66-9, 47 Kos) punished his opponent Scott Sigmon (30-12-1, 16Kos) while still being able to entertain the masses to some extent in typical Roy Jones fashion. At 49 years old Jones showed us that he still got it. The much younger Sigmon didn’t have the right game plan to stop Jones from punishing him round after round. He was a worthy opponent but just not the one to send Jones packing with a loss in that squared circle on that special night.

Jones looked good last night outclassing his opponent one last time in front of his hometown crowd. It’s only fitting that he gets to walk away from the Boxing Game in the same city that he started his professional career at 29 years ago.

In my eyes Jones is a “Living Legend”, Future Hall-of-Famer and definitely one of the best to ever lace up a pair of gloves. Real Talk! To this day Jones is the only fighter to have claimed Titles at Middleweight, Super Middleweight, Light Heavyweight and Heavyweight. Unbelievable!

Peeps in the Boxing Community can debate all day about who’s the best there is (Jay-Z voice) or where Roy Jones Jr. should be placed in the “Greatest Of All Time” lists but truth be told, Jones’ career and accomplishments speak for themselves and his presence will forever be missed in that squared circle. Thank you Roy Jones Jr. for blessing us with such an astonishing career full of endless highlight reels.

Enjoy your retirement Roy.
