On The Watch “It’s All About Tyson Fury vs Dillian Whyte”

WBC Heavyweight Challenge

Tonight’s Queensberry Promotion/Top Rank Main Event between WBC/Ring Magazine Heavyweight Champion Tyson Fury (32-0-1, 23 Kos) and Mandatory challenger Dillian Whyte (28-3, 19 Kos) at the Wembley Stadium, Wembley, London, UK, with an attendance of 94,000 fans definitely lived up to the hype. Hands Down!

The “Gypsy King” defended his Championship belts for the second time and did it in style by boxing circles around “The Body Snatcher” Dillian who had absolutely no proper “game plan” in keeping Tyson from having his way inside that squared circle.

It was a boxing clinic by Tyson who kept Dillian at bay with a very effective jab, enabling Dillian from landing anything significant enough to deter Tyson from pressing the action from round one and on.

Tyson looked good from the jump boxing and moving at ease inside that squared circle. Dillian tried numerous times to land that heavy left hand but with no avail constantly missing and swinging at air whenever Tyson moved with grace avoiding every power shot coming from Dillian.

Tyson’s size, reach and boxing IQ inside the ring was simply too much of a puzzle for Dillian to overcome. Tyson always seemed to be two steps ahead of Dillian’s every move. Dillian was outmatched and outwitted inside that squared circle. To me this bout looked like a sparring session gone wrong for Dillian. It was only matter of time before the inevitable happened and by the 6th round, Tyson connected with a vicious right uppercut straight to the chin that dropped Dillian who then managed to get up before the count but was on shaky legs to continue. This prompted the referee to call the bout in fear for his safety. Game over!

This was a long overdue mandatory position that Dillian Whyte rightfully deserved from time but fell short on the biggest night of his career to the so-called pillow fisted “Gypsy King”. I tip my “B” hat to Fury for successfully defending his WBC/Ring Magazine Heavyweight Championship Titles and walking away from the game still undefeated and on his own terms in the presence of 94,000 fans at the Wembley Stadium in London.

Job well done Tyson, now enjoy your retirement.

On the Watch “It’s All About Alexander Povetkin vs Dillian Whyte 2”

WBC Interim Heavyweight Title Defence

Tonight’s Matchroom/DAZN rematch Main event at the Rock of Gibraltar between WBC Interim Heavyweight Champion Alexander Povetkin (36-3-1, 25 Kos) and Dillian Whyte (28-2, 19 Kos) was short and sweet for the challenger who walked it like he talked it and got his revenge inside that squared circle.

Dillian looked like a man on a mission from round one who had maximum violence written all over his body language. Dillian was focused and patient stalking his prey and pressuring Povetkin from all angles.

The early body shots from “The Body Snatcher” bothering Povetkin was a sign to me that it was going to be an early night for the champion. Povetkin looked shaky to me and possibly still feeble from contracting the Covid-19 virus prior to this bout. His punch resistance was non-existent.

That being said, Povetkin did attempt to regain some composure and tried to hold his ground as the rounds progressed but Dillian’s calculated movements and strong jabs prevented Povetkin from landing with anything significant enough to deter Dillian’s heavy shots coming his way.

Povetkin has been known to recover quickly in the past but in tonight’s round four that was not the case. Dillian went into “beast mode” and landed a devastating right hand to the dome of Povetkin that stunned him and had him on shaky legs into the ropes. Dillian then continued to administer a barrage of heavy punches that sent Povetkin down for the count which he beat, but his wobbly legs and body language were enough for the referee and his corner to throw in the towel to stop the fight.

Having been knocked out in the first showdown between them, this redemption win was a must at all cost. Dillian now reclaimed his WBC Interim Heavyweight Title and presumably resumed his much-anticipated mandatory position to fight for the full WBC Heavyweight Championship against the winner of the Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury bout.

Congratulations Dillian on redeeming yourself in an emphatic fashion.

On the Watch “It’s All About Dillian Whyte vs Alexander Povetkin”

WBC Diamond and Interim Heavyweight Challenge

In a surprising turn of events, the Heavyweight Division standing took another hit in tonight’s Heavyweight main event in the Matchroom Boxing Camp in Brentwood, Essex, UK, between Interim WBC Champion Dillian Whyte (27-2, 18 Kos) and Alexander Povetkin (36-2-1, 25 Kos).

What started out has a sure shot win for the “Body Snatcher” Dillian ended up in a possible knockout of the year for Povetkin. Dillian came out of the gate controlling the rounds and even dropping Povetkin twice in the fourth round for a standing eight count. Dillian got a little too comfortable by the fifth round and got caught with a mean left uppercut from Povetkin that created a crime scene type knockout that left us fans watching with our mouths wide open when the referee stopped the fight after Dillian was unresponsive on the floor. Real Talk! (my girl Ang called it when she said in the previous rounds to watch out for that uppercut from Povetkin).

The way the fight was going Povetkin was looking tired and slow in the previous rounds and Dillian was looking like he was getting ready to stop the older warrior in Povetkin but truth be told Povetkin still had an ace up his sleeves in the form of a well-timed destructive well-placed uppercut that secured the win in the fifth round. Real Talk!

This bout was a perfect example of what can happen on any given night in the Heavyweight Division. Most of them Boys in the Division carry power and can never be counted out regardless of their age. Dillian talked a good game and performed well throughout the contested bout but clearly underestimated the power the older veteran Povetkin still possessed and paid dearly for it.

Povetkin’s resilience and pedigree showed up tonight and silenced all the naysayers who counted him out. What was supposed to be a walk-in park for Dillian turned out to be a nightmare of a night in the form of a devastating loss that will haunt him for quite some time.

That being said, congratulations are in order for the New WBC Diamond and Interim Heavyweight Champion Alexander Povetkin.

Job well done Alexander; you defied all odds and came out an Interim Champion. I’m not sure how much juice you got left in you but tonight you were the conqueror who dethroned the Interim Champ. Enjoy your winnings, you deserve it.

WBC Interim Heavyweight World Title Challenge

Dillian Whyte (27-1, 18 Kos) will be looking to put his WBC Interim Heavyweight Title on the line against tough and seasoned veteran Alexander Povetkin (35-2-1 24 Kos) at Manchester Arena Saturday May 2, 2020, live on Sky Sports Box Office.

This is a very good Heavyweight bout where the experienced veteran Povetkin will have to dig deep to show the naysayers that he’s still got what it takes to compete with the likes of a Dillian Whyte. A win here for Povetkin would automatically set him up for the WBC Mandatory position to Tyson Fury’s full WBC Heavyweight Championship Title. As a former World Champion, Povetkin is focussed and determined not to let this opportunity pass him by, so I’m anticipating a competitive bout come fight night.

That being said, this bout will be Dillian’s first defence of his WBC Interim Heavyweight Belt. Whyte can’t afford a slip up here. In order to maintain his Mandatory status, he must keep on winning and challenging the likes of Alexander will not be a walk in the park, but a win here would definitely enhance his resume.

This bout is not your typical stay busy fight for either combatant. This is a dangerous 50/50 fight that could go all wrong for Dillian if he’s overlooking Povetkin due to his age. Personally, I wouldn’t sleep on Povetkin, he is very well-schooled inside that squared circle and does carry a mean left hook of his own and when timely connected, can end the night quickly.

So, don’t miss this exciting Heavyweight bout live on Sky Sports Box Office Saturday May 2, 2020 at Manchester Arena.

On The Watch “It’s All About Dillian Whyte vs Oscar Rivas”

WBC Heavyweight Eliminator

In a competitive WBC Heavyweight Eliminator bout Saturday night at the O2 Arena in London, UK, Dillian Whyte “The Body Snatcher” (26-1, 18 Kos) picked himself up from a ninth-round knockdown to secure the win against Canadian-based Colombian Oscar Rivas (26-1, 18 Kos).

I gotta tip my “B” hat to Dillian for the way he handled himself inside that squared circle last night. This bout was a tougher fight than he expected but Whyte did not disappoint us.

Rivas came out of the gate strong but Whyte’s patience and steady jab were key and definitely effective throughout the rounds. Whyte executed the “game plan” to a “T” and managed to control the rounds when the going got tough. Whyte used his height and reach effectively and consistently which made it difficult for Rivas to establish any type of steady attack.

Rivas gave it a good showing and definitely made it competitive, but when all the smoked cleared the right man won the night. The Judges scored it 115-112, 115-112 and 116-111. No objections here.

With this win, Whyte now becomes the WBC Interim Heavyweight Champion with an assurance of an opportunity at the reigning full WBC Champion Deontay Wilder (41-0-1 40 Kos).

Now it’s debatable when we’ll actually see Whyte share the ring with Deontay but until then keep pilling them wins Whyte and maintaining that strong deserving mandatory position.

Heavyweight Challenge “Last Man Standing”

It has just been officially announced that Dillian Whyte “The Body Snatcher” (25-1, 18 Kos) will be putting up his WBC No. 1 ranking on the line at the O2 Arena in London, UK on July 20, 2019, against our own undefeated Canadian-based Columbian Oscar Rivas (26-0 18 Kos).

I’m impressed with Whyte taking on this high-risk task by willingly accepting a bout against a tough undefeated Heavyweight on the come up like Rivas.

The name Oscar Rivas may not be familiar to the average boxing fan, but truth be told your “Boy” Rivas is a serious threat who has been avoided by many of the top Heavyweights in the game to date. Judging by his rankings in the WBO No. 5, WBA No. 6, IBF No. 7 and WBC No. 10, you would be foolish to take him on thinking its going to be an easy night. A win over a highly ranked opponent like Whyte would speak volumes in the Heavyweight Division and definitely make for an appealing bout between the two Heavyweight Champions Anthony Joshua or Deontay Wilder.

That being said, Dillian is slated to be the favorite between the two since he’s the bigger name and the one who will be fighting at home. Whyte has improved in many areas since he last fought AJ and with his steady momentum of back to back wins, Whyte will be looking to continue the streak all the way to a Championship bout in the near future.

I’m intrigued by this bout and can’t wait to see how it will unfold. There is a real potential of an upset. This might be Rivas’ coming out party on the big stage under the bright lights or just another body snatched by Dillian.

Whatever the outcome I anticipate a great bout in the making. Tune in and witness the “Last Man Standing” Saturday night July 20, 2019 at the O2 Arena in London, live on Sky SPORTS Box Office.

On The Watch “It’s All About Dillian Whyte vs Dereck Chisora”

Heavyweight Challenge

Another good showing by Dillian Whyte (25-1, 18 Kos) tonight at the O2 Arena, in London against a “WAR” ready challenger Dereck Chisora (29-9, 21 Kos).

This second go around between the two warriors was completely different from their last meeting inside that squared circle. While Dereck was clearly the more aggressive fighter of the two, Whyte surprisingly maintained a very controlled offensive approach in every round. Whyte stuck to his game plan and waited out the storm before administering the “End Game” knockout blow in the 11th round. Real Talk.

Dereck fought a good one and was also very calm throughout the bout. He fought smart and he was in control up until he got caught in the 11th round. Although the bout was close up until then, two of the Judges at the time of stoppage had Chisora up on the cards while the third Judge had it dead even.

It was an interesting fight with the two combatants working their respective game plans to a “T” and for that I tip my “B” hat to the both of them. It was a strategic bout from start to finish and the better executor prevailed.

With this win Dillian has reassured his position within the top of the Heavyweight Division. His options are clearer than ever, as a mandatory challenger to the WBC Heavyweight Champion Deontay Wilder, it’s only a matter of time before he gets a crack at him or he could inevitably rematch Unified Heavyweight Champion Anthony Joshua. That is a viable option considering he could also be mandatory challenger to the Champs WBO Belt.

Some heavy options for the Heavyweight Challenger “The Body Snatcher”.

Your thoughts on this one?

On The Watch “It’s All About Dillian Whyte vs Joseph Parker”

Heavyweight Collision

Tonight, the fans at the O2 Arena in London were privileged to see two top Heavyweights in Dillian “The Body Snatcher” Whyte (24-1, 17 Kos) and Joseph Parker (24-2, 18 Kos) go at it in a very thrilling and dramatic bout. Real Talk!

I gotta tip my “B” hat to Dillian for taking it to Parker head on and beating him by unanimous decision. As it stands, Dillian is the only man to put Parker down, not once but twice in his entire boxing career. I was very impressed with the way Dillian was working over Parker, the more experienced of the two.

It took the whole 12 rounds, a late Parker rally and an emphatic finish to secure the win but “DAMN” it was a good show.

As the fight wore on I couldn’t help but notice how Parker may have underestimated Dilian’s abilities inside that squared circle. To me Parker looked disengaged, lethargic, tired and simply not himself inside that ring. Although he put up a decent fight this was definitely not his best work to date. Parker desperately needed to win this fight tonight to be put back in the Heavyweight contingency but failed with the game plan at hand. He did however manage to put Dillian down in a breathtaking 12th round but was unable to close out the show.

Stamina played a big role in tonight’s bout for both fighters but “The Body Snatcher” secured his victory with the two heavy headed knockdowns along with the better work rate. Dillian came to box; it wasn’t the prettiest fight but definitely engaging all the way to the end.

Tonight, Dillian’s stock has unquestionably risen in the Heavyweight Division and rightfully deserving of it.

Congratulations Dillian on an impressive win, now on to the next.

On The Watch “It’s All About Dillian Whyte vs Joseph Parker”

Heavyweight Collision

I didn’t see this one coming, not anytime soon anyways! It’s now been announced that Dillian Whyte (23-1, 17 Kos) vs Joseph Parker (24-1, 18 kos) will meet in a Heavyweight bout at the O2 Arena in London July 28, 2018, live on Sky Sports Box Office.

I’m surprise that these two agreed to duke it out. Next to both having fought Anthony Joshua and losing, this will be their toughest fight to date and a very good opportunity for the both of them.

Whyte has shown some real steady improvement from bout to bout since his only defeat to AJ. The momentum he’s been carrying so far has been quite impressive. Dillian has definitely showed the rest of the Heavyweight Division that he is not to be taken lightly.

As for Parker, who lost his WBO Belt to AJ last March, a bounce back win here would most likely put him back up in the Heavyweight contention.

This is a dangerous fight for either fighter. Looking at Parker it’s clear that he is the younger, possibly the stronger, faster and definitely the more mobile of the two combatants. That being said, Whyte is the “Body Snatcher” with underrated power to go along with his come forward tactics that usually gets the job done inside that squared circle.

To me this is a risky but most likely very entertaining 50/50 fight. Two top 10 Heavyweights that are hungry, motivated and willing to lay it all on the line. The type of bout that will give the winner major bragging rights along with a major shift in the Heavyweight Division.

No short cuts here, these two combatants are looking for a world title shot by taking the most dangerous fight available. Nuff Said!

Tune in Saturday July 28, 2018 live on Sky Sports Box Office.
