On The Watch “It’s All About Terence Crawford vs Amir Khan”

WBO Welterweight Challenge

It has officially been confirmed today that Terence Crawford (34-0, 25 Kos) will be defending his WBO Welterweight Title against Amir Khan (33-4, 20 Kos) Saturday night April 20, 2019 at Madison Square Garden in New York City or at one of the MGM Resorts’ International arenas in Las Vegas.

This is an intriguing bout with the possibility of being a great one depending on which Amir Khan shows up that night. If the explosive, fast handed slick fighter makes an appearance, we might just have a good match up. However, if Khan shows up with that weak performance like his last time out then your “Boy” might be in for a quick night? Real Talk!

Khan has been searching for that legacy fight and now his call has been answered. Crawford is rated as one of the top Pound-for-Pound boxers in the game, so you know he’ll be looking for that work when he steps into that squared circle with Khan. If Khan were to pull off an upset win here, this would lead to further lucrative bouts amongst the top-heavy hitters in the Welterweight Division.

As for Crawford, a win here won’t do much to enhance his status but add another marquee name to his unblemished record. Real Talk! Crawford is seen by many as the favourite while Khan is seen as the underdog.

However, Crawford does need a dominant performance to entice the other Champions in the Welterweight Division. For some odd reason the other Welterweight Champions refuse to acknowledge the fact that Terence is a major player in the 147-pound Division.

Khan strongly believes that he’s still top 10 in the Welterweight Division. With an opportunity to win a world title he could easily climb back up top of the 147-pound Division and silence the naysayers who doubt he’s still got it.

Nevertheless, Crawford is up for the challenge and about that business inside that squared circle. I just hope that Khan comes with it and doesn’t disappoint because this could possibly be his last chance at a World Title.

Now let’s see it!

On The Watch “It’s All About Jose Uzcategui vs Caleb Plant”

IBF Super Middleweight Challenge

Tonight, at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, Caleb Plant (18-0, 10 Kos) joined the winner”s circle by defeating IBF Super Middleweight Champion Jose Uzcategui (28-3, 23 Kos) by unanimous decision.

Caleb came out the gate aggressive and established his power very early in the second round by dropping Jose for an 8 count. Caleb’s jab and constant movement made it difficult for Jose to adjust to Caleb’s boxing style.

As the rounds wore on, Caleb managed once again to sit Jose down for another 8 count in the fourth round. By that point Caleb was clearly ahead on points, which prompted Jose to start stalking Caleb around the ring, but to no avail.

I’m not sure what game plan Jose’s corner had in mind, but outside looking in, Caleb was visibly outboxing Jose as the rounds piled up.

It was clear that the pace of the fight was getting to Caleb but the lead he amassed within the early rounds pretty much secured the win for him. Jose had some moments inside that squared circle and looked the fresher of the two but still had no real answers to Caleb’s offence.

Overall it was a good fight, but I personally expected more from the Champion Jose. He came to life late in the second half of the bout but failed to retain his Title with his lackluster performance.

With this convincing win Caleb Plant becomes the latest Champion to don the IBF Super Middleweight Championship Title.

Congratulations Champ for a win well-deserved.

On The Watch “It’s All About James DeGale vs Chris Eubank Jr.”

Super Middleweight Challenge

Rumors have been swirling around for quite some time and now it has officially been confirmed. The domestic British dust up between James DeGale (25-2-1, 15 Kos) and Chris Eubank Jr. (27-2, 21 Kos) is set to take place on February 23, 2019 at London’s O2 Arena.

The trash talking between the two combatants has been going on for years and it’s only fitting to end all talks inside that squared circle. There’s a lot on the table here. A loss for either combatant will have a serious gut check when it’s all said and done.

This bout is more about “Pride Fighting” then “Prize Fighting”. A lot has been said about where both warriors are at in their respective careers to date. Some in the boxing community see DeGale as a shot fighter on the decline while others in the boxing community see Eubank Jr. as an underachiever who chokes when tested by legitimate competitors.

I personally, see this bout as an opportunity for either combatant to show the naysayers that they still got what it takes to get bigger and better fights in the Super Middleweight Division. It’s “Show and Prove” time. Enough with the talking it’s time to step up and back it up.

Eubank Jr. is the younger of the two with less mileage. He’s at a peak point of his career and has serious skills inside that squared circle when focused. with a full-time trainer now by his side, it’s time for Eubank Jr. to perform and steal the show.

DeGale keeps talking about this bout being a “retirement fight” for the loser but truth be told he needs to step up his own game up to avoid that specific outcome on February 23, 2019. He could be the odd man out if he doesn’t come correct and focused come fight night.

There is absolutely no shortage of confidence when it comes to these two opponents, but truth be told the pressure is on 100 for them two to deliver and look convincing doing it.

The winner at the O2 Arena on Saturday night February 23, 2019 will get a positive boost within the Super Middleweight Division and possibly a Championship bout looming on the horizon?
